Power Outage Puts Baton Rouge in the Dark: Thousands Affected – In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, there was a bit of a hiccup on Tuesday morning. A bunch of folks over in East Baton Rouge Parish found themselves without power. According to a map that keeps track of these things, it seems around 4,500 customers were left in the dark.

Most of the places feeling the power outage blues were in two specific zip codes: 70802 and 70808.

The power decided to take a break just a smidge before 7 a.m. The folks at Entergy, the ones responsible for keeping the lights on, rolled up their sleeves and aimed to fix things up by 9:30 a.m. According to a friendly spokesperson from Entergy, the power problem tagged along because something they use to zap electricity decided it needed a coffee break. They’re now playing detective to figure out how to juice things up safely and speedily.

As luck would have it, a few schools also got caught in the power outage web. McKinley High, McKinley Elementary, and the Eva Legard Center had an unexpected power-down party. Over at LSU, the big university in town, they faced the same situation – no power, no classes until 10:30 a.m.

The power puzzle had them scratching their heads, trying to guess when things would get back to normal. Meanwhile, the smart folks at University Lab School made an easy call: no classes on Tuesday until the power high-fives everyone again.
