Who was Nashville shooter Audrey Hale?

Police identified Audrey Hale, 28, as the shooter at Nashville’s Covenant School. She may have been a former student.

Websites that appear to be related to Hale indicate that Hale was a Nashville-based illustrator and graphic designer who created branding and logos to “help tell a company’s story” and to “bring a whimsical, light-hearted feeling”.

According to several News, Hale was born as a female. A spokesperson for the police stated that Hale used the pronouns “he/him” on a social media account.

Norma Hale, Hale’s mom, spoke briefly to several News and said that it was very, very difficult right at the moment for her family.

She said, “I believe I have lost my daughter today.”

A neighbor told several News that Audrey Hale lived in the family’s home along with Hale’s parents. The neighbor described Hale’s parents as “very nice” but also “very religious.”

According to Media News, Hale graduated in 2022 from Nashville’s Nossi College of Art & Design. Cyrus Vatandoost, the school’s president and CEO, confirmed that Hale had done so.

Vatandoost stated that Hale was an artist and a good student while she attended our school. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, the victims’ families, and our city.

An earlier post on the school’s Facebook indicated that Hale had received at least one award for academic excellence.

Hale shared his personal website, “Aside from art,” he said, “I enjoy binging watching movies, playing video games, and watching videos.” I have a child-like side that loves to run to the playground. My second passion is animals, so I enjoy spending time with my cats.

LinkedIn profile of Hale also includes work as a part-time grocery shopper for Shipt and mentions previous employment as a cat sitter.
